The lightening of the colour of the tooth in a chemical way (oxidation).
aim: To satisfy the patient’s teeth related aesthetic wishes. The aim with tooth whitening is not to reach snow white but light and natural teeth.
to do list prior treatment: Consultation with the patient, discussing the results sought and the colour of the tooth. Tooth whitening won’t affect fillings, replacements (crowns, bridges and dentures) because it can’t penetrate into their substance. In case the patient wishes to match the colour of the crown, bridge or denture to the new colour of the natural teeth’s it is possible within the confines of a separate treatment. In case of root canal treated teeth some inner discolouration can happen. It is not possible to whiten these teeth with LED lamp but they can be whitened with another method that can be applied together with the LED lamp method. If necessary scaling will be done before the tooth whitening.
steps: First we professionally clean the teeth. We cover the sensitive gum with a special antidote, then we varnish the teeth with a special whitening gel, afterwards a special LED lamp is used that activates the agent in the gel. After 15 minutes the gel is washed off. The process is repeated twice. The teeth can be sensitive after treatment but this should stop after a few days. The result is a brighter, engaging smile!
advantage: It can be done at home or at the dental clinic (better results).
IMPORTANT!: We do not offer tooth whitening treatments during the time of pregnancy and breastfeeding, or in case of dental developmental anomaly, teeth discoloured by medication or decayed teeth!
to do list after treatment: For permanent effect smoking and consumption of coffee, tea, wine, cola or other foods/beverages containing food colourants are not recommended. Proper oral hygiene at home and professional dental hygienic treatment in every 6 months is essential.
